New asset monitoring and intrusion detection capabilities expand situational awareness for control room operators of critical infrastructure

MAHWAH, New Jersey and AUSTIN, TexasJanuary 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Radiflow, a provider of cybersecurity solutions for critical infrastructure, and ResilientGrid, a provider of integrated software and services to maximize human performance in critical infrastructure, today jointly announced that ResilientGrid has integrated the industrial cybersecurity capabilities from Radiflow into its ResilientGrid Map solution.

The growing threats of cybersecurity and physical attacks along with a growth in big data, automation, IoT and sensors are all leading to more systems, screens, risks and stress in critical infrastructure control rooms.

ResilientGrid Map integrates data flows from an infrastructure’s core systems into a single visualization designed to maximize situational awareness and minimize risks of human error for critical infrastructure operations. ResilientGrid Map is designed around human factors principles, scaling across normal, emergency and recovery operations. This integrated operating system is designed to fight the losses of situational awareness that consistently are seen in emergency situations. This allows these operators to improve efficiencies, reduce risks of losses and rapidly return to normal operations.

ResilientGrid has integrated the industrial cybersecurity capabilities of Radiflow’s iSID system into its ResilientGrid Map solution. iSID is an industrial intrusion detection system designed specifically for the needs of operators of critical infrastructure. iSID maps a baseline of the operational assets and continuously monitors for changes to expected network traffic. For any changes to the operational assets and anomalies in network traffic that may indicate cybersecurity threats, iSID generates alerts in real-time. The assets information gathered by iSID are now displayed by ResilientGrid Map together with physical infrastructure information. Any alerts generated by iSID are presented in the relevant location in the ResilientGrid Map visualization.

For users of ResilientGrid Map, which spans the electric power vertical and adjacent critical infrastructures, the integration of Radiflow’s industrial cybersecurity capabilities greatly expands their situational awareness and positions them to effectively manage their operational network from the single pane of glass provided by ResilientGrid.

“Creating a turnkey integration between ResilientGrid Map and Radiflow’s advanced CIP-compliant cybersecurity technology adds significant benefits to critical infrastructure operators, as they adapt to the new landscape of control room operations, IT/OT convergence and the increased pace of both the physical and cyber aspects of critical infrastructure operations,” explained Michael Legatt, CEO of ResilientGrid.

“We are excited to be involved in ResilientGrid’s unique approach for unifying and visualizing mission critical systems,” said Ilan Brada, CEO at Radiflow. “There is a clear market need for ResilientGrid’s solution and we have strong expectations that our collaboration with the company will extend our reach into new market segments, especially across North America.”

ResilientGrid and Radiflow will be exhibiting the ResilientGrid Map solution integrated with Radiflow’s industrial cybersecurity capabilities at the upcoming DistribuTECH conference on January 23-25 in San Antonio, TX. ResilientGrid will be exhibiting at Booth 1216 and Radiflow will be exhibiting at Booth 1957.

About Resilient Grid

ResilientGrid was born in infrastructure control rooms. The operators in these control rooms identified several areas of risk including a lack of situational awareness, non-integration of applications, growing size and speed of data, and the need for specific decision support tools. With ResilientGrid’s tools, operators grow situational awareness and are supported to make more rapid and reliable decisions. The principal architect of our applications, Michael Legatt, is ResilientGrid’s founder. With PhDs in psychology and engineering, his passion for improving the way critical systems personnel perform is central to the tools and methodologies we deploy.
